My old HDD has over 7.3GB of images i personally took before it died... so whats so special about 30GB? Edit Currently this one i think has about 2GB... i think |

I like that idea, but to keep the image of the site *slightly* more strict than the folks over at the other hellhole? First of all, if we called it /b/ we might get attacked by a certain hellhole for copying their ideas. Second, it'd be MUCH stricter. (Mainly no porn) |

The problem isn't getting an imageboard set up, but allowing others to upload files. Uploads cause a significant security risk, and we have those disabled on the forum for both attachments and avatars. |

Uploads cause a significant security risk, and we have those disabled on the forum for both attachments and avatars. Security risk for the server, or security risk for clients? Risk that malicious code may be hidden within images and executed by either the server or clients? You could set up an isolated (or chrooted) http server for the imageboard such that for every image uploaded, the data are converted first into pixels, then stored to disk as a file again. The isolation would be designed to keep the server from doing anything naughty to the rest of the system, while the conversion is meant to strip away any non-image data. |
