That's right, here comes the 4G. Based on the keynote, here is what I've gotten so far:
-A4 processor just like the iPad -Gyroscope in addition to Accelerometer and GPS for precision gaming -Incredible battery with over 40 hours of music and 300 hours of standby -"These phones are getting more and more intelligent" -Steve Jobs -2 Cameras -HD Video with 720p, 30 frames per second *Update* -iMovie for iPhone, a brand new app written by Apple *Update* -2 Microphones -Available on T-Mobile as well -High resolution display (retina display)
And the most important thing we learned: -AT&T network doesn't work in San Francisco (neither does Apple's WiFi)
More info to follow...
Demoing iMovie on iPhone now... Actually very boring but very impressive. There is a reason iMovie was first written for a computer. Can upload iMovies directly from your iPhone to YouTube (anyone else wondering why AT&T capped iPhone bandwidth at 2GB?). Can download directly to your iPhone for $4.99 (as long as their Apps team approves it).
Up next, talking about how there are 570 devices using WiFi and keeping Steve from demoing anything. Making everyone put laptops on the floor and turn them off. Audio streams are going down quick as we turn things off. LiveBlogs tell Steve to go suck it and they keep on going...
Now Steve is talking about the OS. Renamed to iOS 4. Now criticizing everyone who said Apple was late to the Multitasking game. Getting ready to demo now. "We'll se if we really did turn off all those WiFi devices" -Steve Jobs
Pandora loads quick along with Safari sites...
Wait a minute. The folks over at gdgt just pointed out that Cisco owns the "iOS" name, wonder what is happening there?
Bing search added to the iPhone.
iBooks being upgraded for iOS 4. Don't really consider this a new feature though as we already talked about its upgrades before we got to the iPhone. Key point there was it can do PDF's now too.
Feature #8 (and the last advertised by Steve) is iAds. What a let down... No talk about the front facing camera, other networks, etc. The whole audience is sort of let down with this iAds. Energy has really dipped. As far as the presentation, it is pretty much a rerun of the keynote for iOS 4 a couple months ago.
Some of the advertisers already signed up with iAds:
“Nissan, Citi, Unilever, AT&T, Chanel, GE, Liberty Mutual, State Farm, Geico — they want you guys to have insurance! — Sears, JCPenny, Target, Best Buy, DirecTV, TBS network, and Disney. Those are some of the brands, and we couldn’t be happier. We’re so excited.” -Steve Jobs
One more thing...
FaceTime - video chat. From any iOS 4 device to another iOS 4 device. Only over WiFi - no cellular networks. While Steve was demoing it, it froze up and he went off on people to turn off their WiFi devices.
Comes in 2 colors (black and white). $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB. Ships June 24 (and in stores). Can pre-order starting June 15.
iPhone 3G is gone, 3GS is now $99. AT&T will let anyone who's contract expires in 2010 upgrade for the prices above (of course with a new 2 year contract).
Apple made their own case for it, cost $29. No, the case does not make it look like a 3GS.
If you have a 3G or 3GS product (including iTouch), you can upgrade to iOS 4 for free starting June 21 but not all features are supported by 3G models (and the first generation iTouch can't be upgraded).
And that's it. Thoughts?

You forgot to mention the phone itself has been redesigned. it is 24% thinner if i remember correctly. 5MP camera, bluetooth (already on the old ones but will they let us do what other phones do without having to jailbreak and install iBlueNova, only time will tell). Resolution of the screen has also been increased: 960x640-pixel resolution at 326 ppi. Fingerprint resistant screen (doubt thats true though as they said that for the 3GS which my friend has and its so not fingerprint resistant XD). Edit: heres the official link http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/specs.htmlYou know, im thinking of getting one depending on contract price in the UK but im still trying to decide whether to go for this or an Android due to Apples restrictions... but im sure someone will jailbreak OS 4, the iPad was jailbreaked in a matter of a day after release. My mother has the sony X10 (which uses Android), its not bad but it doesnt seem as slick as the iPhone OS. Also the "market" doesnt seem that great, but what is enticing me towards android is that i dont have to attempt run OSX in a VM just to use the SDK to create apps

ya forgot about farmville being ported to the Iphone Sorry, but I did paste that one to my Facebook. And since the people there know me much better then you guys, I'll enclose it in the appropriate tags for you: [sarcasm] thank goodness Farmville is coming to iPhone/iPad. Now we can all get notifications every 5 seconds about whither crops and plant crops no matter where we are. Did I mention these crops are imaginary, make you no money, and is in fact very boring... Personally, I'm glad "there's an app for that"[/sarcasm]
And sorry for not talking about the specs. If you didn't hear, apparently Apple's WiFi can't handle 570 devices...then again, once he got the audio streamers to turn their stuff off it sped up nicely.

LOL thing is a lot of people like it, and since apple are all against freedom (regardless of what steve jobs says), it was up to farmville to provide a non-flash version.... I think as far as phones go myself, I'll stick with the droid based devices

The flipside of that is, that the custom iPhone version will be much easier to use and much more stable aswell. (See Youtube for a comparison) It's up to you to decide the more weighty factor.

Hmm...the keynote video they posted online seems to have had some fancy edit work done to it. I could have sworn there were more issues than just the New York Times not loading that one time. They also managed to remove every time someone shouted out the word "Verizon".

A lot of people were expecting apple to announce plans to partner with Verizon actually with ATT's bandwidth capping, thats probably why they were yelling that (I haven't watched it so.... So I apologize the reason of yelling was plain obvious).

Basically, that's it. But it was funny 'cos they shouted at a time when the iPhone's were having network issues (although it was WiFi, not 3G at fault)

No, I understood why it was happening, I was just thinking back and remembering more shouting of it then made it in the online video.

No, I understood why it was happening, I was just thinking back and remembering more shouting of it then made it in the online video. Yeah, they chopped out quite a lot of the 'refresh-hope-it-loads' and the hilarious Verizon comment got caught up in that. I don't think they removed it purposefully, 'cos Jobs actually made a funny comment about the shout. If it upset Apple that much, I don't think Jobs would have acknowledged. Slightly offtopic, but I think iPhone will hit multiple carriers this year in the US. Android was catching iPhone in the UK, but as soon as they opened it to more than just O2 about a year ago, iPhone is steaming ahead again.

It's the iPhone 4. It's not the 4G, the iPhone isn't compatible with 4G networks or anything close to that base band. The best the 4 get's is 3.5. You should change the title. I hope the jailbreak allows us to tether the facetime app onto a carrier network. Just WiFi seems poop.

This isn't Apple's doing - why would they want to limit it? And yes, the phones not 4G, but it can support 7.2meg 3G when it comes. That's approaching 4G speeds.

It is the iPhone 4G *technically*, but the 4G doesn't mean the network its on, it just means it is the fourth iteration of the iPhone hardware.

It's not called the iPhone 4G! It's the iPhone 4. No random letters at the end. PLEASE STOP MAKING THIS MISTAKE!
Actually the iPhone 4 is capable of 4g, but at+t doesn't have 4g in the usa, so too bad.

Well, they said for 2010 (2011 to? can't remember) it would be Wi-Fi only. So likely once 4G comes around and is more common, it won't be Wi-Fi only.
