TRS-80
« on: February 05, 2012, 02:26:32 PM »
I've always had an interest in the computers of olde, and recently I found a TRS-80 in a nearby building. Does anyone have any experience with it? It looks like the Model III from Wikipedia (in my memory), but I think it has 64k of RAM, so I figured it might be a Model 4. What is a 'cassette drive' in this context (I know someone will feel old)? The model III has 2, and the model 4 has floppy drives, which I can deal with.
Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T5470 @ 1.60GHz
KDE 4 on Arch Linux.

i believe Trs-80 used a 8088 intel cpu. super old skool. pc made by tandy and i think it has a 40column display instead of the current 80 column. Radio Shack sold them in the 80s. thats all i remember. take some pics of the inside and outside and post here if you can. I love seeing dinosaur computers.

The Model I radiated so much interference that while playing games an AM radio placed next to the computer could be used to provide sounds

LOL

Quite a useful feature, to be sure. This was how I got audio output from my TI-83+ until I started hacking the 2.5" link port.
