I remember toying with XeDit and I still use it a lot, it's a great tool <3
edit: I remember I edited XeDit a while ago for myself, to add some security stuff. It's more wannabe awesome features that came out to be a mess of PHP but if you want it I'll have a look if I can still find it :P

Would you mind sharing it here?

You should integrate http://codemirror.net/. I've got that on a similar script I use...

@Human 1.0

If it's not too much trouble. I'd love to see the additions.

@Mop

I have thought about adding more code interface features. But truthfully, in the end, it's a very basic editor interface. With the exception of some additions that make it a little more user friendly, I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible in the editor interface.

I would like to add some features for one-click adding of IMG HREF META tag fields.

I remember when we tried to make it save the file with ajax, so you could just continue editing. It failed. Epically.

I think I might try again now I know much more about JS.

I have actually been able to use XeDit to edit my website from my mobile. I was just using it on my BlackBerry Curve 8530 with a 320x240 display.

I am really happy how well XeDit works. Especially with the javascript variable textbox size that I got help with from Paul Wratt. And now the file input focus on load which was Cogs idea. :)

I also wanted to request some help. I was attempting to redesign a new color theme for XeDit. But failed. I am not very good with color schemes (What colors go with what.).

So I want to request some help from others. I need a good standard theme other than the current.

I will combine a new theme idea with a newer interface to make it less "edgy" and more rounded if that makes sense.

I really like the theme posted above. But I need something liked by many and easy on the eyes for most people.

What about a simple theme like default black on white.

Actually I have a 'theming' system in XeDit and I stole milw0rms theme for it as well. Looks well on XeDit. However milw0rm is dead so you couldn't get the html color scheme but look for the images and you will see what I mean. lightgreen on black. I haven't really had the time to look through my backup drive since I've been at my girlfriend's a lot. But I know It's on there so I'll find it.

I just just upgraded to version 5.2.

I added a theme chooser within the interface with 4 preset themes.

I took some idea's on different themes, and added them as options.

I like the look of original green-screens so that is the default.

$xedit_module_color="#ffffff"; //#cc9900

Go back to the top... xD

I worked for HOURS TONIGHT. Slaving over a lot of code. Recompiling XeDit.

No, none of that cool ajax stuff.

But the upgrades I did add, were difficult to say the least.

And I really think your going to like...

MAJOR NEW FEATURE
You don't have to type file name anymore. It will scan your entire host if XeDit is in root. And compile all your editable files into a drop menu for you to choose from. Difficult to say the least to implement.

I can add a option later to change the setting to allow you to type manually, or choose from list.

XeDit 6.0

If it is choose from list, then it breaks the functionality of creating new file if file not exists. Anyways, great work.

Looks good to me. Speaking of AJAX, there is a neat way to integrate the list functionality with the ability to manually specify paths: an autocomplete combo box...

@Ameer
Good point Ameer, hadn't thought of that.

@inportb
I will have to look into that. Would be nice to have both combined. But I know of a few other ways to do similar. If not just 2 nearly identical forms.
