Actualy I don't think so..... I know people who have 6-7 android phones, simply because they buy one, let's say they bought the nexus one, then when the DroidX or Evo came out they got that because of 4G or super large display...

With the Droid phones every company is trying to out innovate each other and customers are constantly drolling over the next release.... There a constant Android frenzy it seems.... And so much innovation that its a constantly evolving world from day to day.

NPD just does sales stuff, it doesn't have any web service which monitors shares.

If you use Firefox or anything else those sites are probably marked as attack sites now anyhow..... Besides if you go to suspicious sites and install what they tell you to..... It's your own fault.....

Not all people are that bright. You need to step back sometimes and think to yourself "I am not like most of the world."

I mean that in a good way, but it is something you cannot overlook. We, as in technology savvy people, look at things differently. We are constantly reading/hearing tech news, being up to date, and we can tell if something is a scam or not much much more easily than others, because a majority of people who browse the web don't think about those things. Especially people who think the "the Internets" is a place or something stupid like that.

That's a very good point, but what I am saying is if you are going to install stuff from just a site.... doesn't matter what you use, you're history, no not unless you have a ROM OS that cannot be written to at all in which case you'd have 0 customization ability and no ability to install anything, which is not something I'd want

Most people on computers go to a website and install an application. Most people don't think of the repercussion.

When I am looking for a program, I look at the site. If the site looks shady or anything like that that would cause me to be suspicious, I do a bit of research. People don't do that, they think it has to do what it says, lol.

Again how do you protect from that? you can't, it's just something people are going to have to learn especially when people want to use something they can customize and use what they want. I don't think there really is any other way
