Wow, you'd prefer to pay mid 700 price for a 1g processor rather than even sub 300 for a 1.6, wow. Personally I'm surprised why people buy this overpriced stuff from apple.
I have no problem with apple software or such, except for them being a a bit too closed but, as with everything apple you can get higher quality components for less elsewhere.
They'd prob get a higher market share if they lowered their exorbitant prices a little, hell they could halve them, and still be nearly more expensive for the same stuff, remember these guys still just use Intel processors and stuff so all you paying the extra for is the logo? Expensive Logo.....
It's the UI to me that's the main draw. It's organized, it's sleek, it just works. I don't care that I can't do two things simultaneously on this device, I don't care it doesn't have a camera. These points don't bother me. No flash is odd, but its still a really nice product, tied together nicely, overall.
I reckon if I had an iPhone or iPod touch, I can see why people are disappointed. It is a larger iPod touch with reinvigorated applications and better hardware. But even if I did have one of these devices, I still can't see an air of dissapointment.
What did people expect from this that it doesn't do?
Multitasking, pah. It's nice to do, but I never see myself flicking between apps like that in the real-world. A feature I do miss is push notifications which happen all the time, and POP into your top-bar, like Android. Besides, I'm sure when iPhone OS 4.0 comes out, iPad will support it too.
I am slightly annoyed that it doesn't have a camera, but that's my only major niggle with it.
NOTE: I am thinking from my non-geeky perspective here. As a techie, the Apple iPad is a real let down. I'd much rather buy a Palm Pre Plus or a Nexus One. But for it's purpose, I'm not needing that.
