I'm not having the "multitask" debate again, but the OS can multitask - all first-party apps do., so Safari + Mail is possible. Third-party can't at the moment, although OS4.0 will probably fix that.

Not to be rude, but no one cares about first party apps, that's not what this whole "no multitasking" is all about... Sure, it's good to be able to talk and surf the web, if need be, talk and check your mail, and so on, but they want the ability to multitask with everything.

... because many people already have a load of iTunes content which I'd lose if I moved.

Also, for the same reason that everyone bought iPod's instead of other higher-capacity competing MP3's.

I think I want an iPad. Not because I'm an Apple freak, but because I can recall many times when I'm sitting with my PowerBook in the couch and thinking how awesome it were to just have a small iPad in my hands instead. Laptops are simply overkill for that.

When you put it that way I agree with you, its nice to sit with my iPod Touch to just surf the internet. However, having said that, I always seem to want to quickly do something that requires my computer. So in that sense thats why I love the dell I have

The only thing stopping me from this ATM is the UK price. I'm looking for a decent price point and if the base model is £499 as recent rumours suggest, I certainly won't get it, and will wait for a price drop OR compelling new reasons to purchase (OS 4.0, iPad 2.0).

The iPad is also the ultimate thing in case of a zombie apocalypse or any other disaster. You can have your most valuable photos and videos with you, GPS and the internet (while they still work), hours of entertainment... plus the insane battery life! Sounds kinda awesome, doesn't it?

Now unlike you i dont have to find a power source Plus i dont have to rob every store all at once. im guessing where i currently live (with in a 10KM radios) there is about 2 million unused batteries and about 30-40% are AAAs... while im at it i might as well grab all the 16/32GB mem cards able to be gotten to load up on content such as music etc...

so while you try finding a power source im hiding out with 2000 hrs+-* of play time (approx)

*able to grab say 5% of the 30% (30000) over 3 over approx 5 hours (music should last 10-12 while videos should last about 3-5) thats not including the PSP batteries which i would of grabbed which since are not fully charged (about 25-50%) should also give a extra 100-1000 depending on how many i can get... How heavy? well lets say out of 30k 10% are NiHM 50% Alkaline and 40% lithium about 310KG now think about it divide that over 5 convenience stores 5 major stores your looking at about 30-70KG per place. Who cant lift that in 2-4 shots each place? and would take about 3 hour to do the whole trip which could span over 1 week .

And of course i would be driving

Plus the Alkaline batteries can double as land minds but that would require a 9V battery... But who cares... only need 200 of em.

Edit: messed up should of multiplied not divided... its actually 50,000 hours with 30000 AAAs...
Edit 2: actually i prob only have to hit one place... Costco which is very close to me they usually keep a huge skid of batteries somewhere...
